Lenawee ISD Board of Education Seats Open

Two six-year full-term seats on the Lenawee Intermediate School District (LISD) Board of Education will be up for election in June. Board members are elected by the boards of education from the LISD’s 11 constituent school districts. The LISD Board of Education currently has one regular meeting a month, with periodic special meetings.

The terms of current LISD board members Kathryn Mohr and David Pray will be complete on June 30, 2023.

Per section 380.614 (3) of the Revised School Code, not more than two members of the intermediate school board shall be from the same school district.  Currently, two board members whose terms do not expire until 2025 and 2027 reside in the Adrian Public Schools district. Therefore, eligible candidates for this election cannot reside within the boundaries of Adrian Public Schools.

Those interested in becoming a candidate for the LISD Board have until May 8, 2023 by 4:00 p.m. to file nominating petitions with at least 40 registered voter signatures, or remit a nonrefundable fee of $100. Nominating petitions are available at the Lenawee County Clerk’s office, 425 N. Main St., Adrian. A notarized Affidavit of Identity form must also be filed at the same time with the Lenawee County Clerk’s office.

The election will be at a special LISD Board meeting at 5:30 p.m. on June 5 at the LISD TECH Center, 1372 N. Main St., Adrian.
