LISD Board of Education Recognizes Garry Clift for CTE Support

The Lenawee Intermediate School District (LISD) Board of Education recognized local business owner and community leader Garry Clift at their regularly scheduled August meeting for his dedication to local education, particularly the LISD TECH Center. A resolution recognizing Clift was passed unanimously by the Board.

Clift is owner and president of Clift Buick GMC, a full service automotive dealership in Adrian, Michigan. Clift has been a member of the LISD TECH Center Automotive Services Technology program advisory committee for approximately 30 years. During this time, Clift has supported the program by securing donations of equipment, supplies, materials, and vehicles from General Motors (GM) for student educational use. He has regularly participated in open houses, student showcases, and other events aimed at encouraging students to consider careers in the automotive industry. Clift has also demonstrated a commitment to mentoring and hiring LISD TECH Center students.

Recently, Clift has been instrumental in helping the LISD TECH Center become one of the nation’s first schools involved in the GM Service Technician Education Program (STEP) at the high school level. GM STEP partners dealerships with youth automotive education programs, allowing dealerships to mentor and build relationships with students, while connecting the program to complimentary, GM-specific digital technician training courses.

In the resolution, the LISD Board of Education also recognized Clift’s many years of involvement in community enrichment organizations and activities, including the Kiwanis Club of Adrian and the Lenawee County Education Foundation.
