26/27 Project SEARCH interns kicked off the new calendar year on August 24th at ProMedica Charles and Virginia Hickman Hospital! Project SEARCH is entering its twelfth year of operation with the purpose of increasing the amount of taxpayers in Lenawee County!!

Staggered rollouts into first rotation departments began on September 8th and will continue through September 15th.

Between the 24th and the 8th all interns participated in workshop week #1 where they:

> Toured local area employers
> Met with department managers/mentors & Hickman Security
> Engaged with and led tours of their assigned upcoming departments
> Engaged in the Building Healthy Relationships at Work portion of the PS curriculum
> Received CPR/First Aid/AED & Infection prevention training
> Tuned up their work endurance with light gardening duty at ProMedica Farms

EXPLORE SPANISH I

Do you find yourself in a travel, social, or work situation and wish you could understand and speak some basic survival Spanish? If so, this class is for you. This program is intended for students who want to prepare for an exciting, challenging, and rewarding career in healthcare. This program will train students to assist physicians by performing functions related to the clinical responsibilities of a medical office. Instruction includes, among other things, preparing patients for examination and treatment, routine laboratory procedures, diagnostic testing, technical aspects of phlebotomy, and the cardiac life cycle. Students will review important topics including phlebotomy, pharmacology, the proper use and administration of medications, taking and documenting vital signs, cardiology including proper lead placements, professional workplace behavior, ethics and the legal aspects of healthcare. This program includes 140 hours of classroom lecture, hands-on labs, and a clinical externship opportunity at a local healthcare provider.

NWCA National Certification: This program meets the necessary requirements to take the National Workforce Career Association (NWCA) Clinical Medical Assistant (CMAC) Exam.

NHA National Certification: This program meets the necessary requirements to take the National Health career Association (NHA) Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) national examination.

WRITING FOR CHILDREN I- Adult Learning Course

Have you ever wanted to write a story for children? Do you have a bunch of ideas for stories and just don't know where to start? Maybe you're new to writing stories for kids and you want some feedback and brainstorming from other writers but you don't know where to find them? Curious about the publishing industry or self-publishing? Join Jennifer Carson, local author, illustrator, editor, and book production manager for Chicken Scratch Books to learn the fundamentals of writing for children, learn how to give/receive peer feedback, and learn about the publishing industry.
