Sometimes the most important lessons happen outside of the lesson plan. When a power outage forced the cancellation of the final day of our Hammertime Career Exploration Camp, campers were unable to finish building their toolboxes. Rather than letting those projects go unfinished, instructors Mr. Biggs and Mr. Secord went above and beyond by coming in on their own time to complete each toolbox for the students. Their dedication ensured every camper could take home a finished project and a lasting reminder of what they accomplished this week. Thank you, Mr. Biggs and Mr. Secord, for your commitment to our students and for always going the extra mile. #LenaweeISD #LISD #CareerExplorationCamps #LenaweeEducation #SummerCamp

Over the past two weeks, our students from the Marketing & Entrepreneurship program have had incredible opportunities to explore careers and innovation through several hands-on experiences and field trips.

At Anderson Development Company, Sandy McLaughlin shared insights into sales and marketing, followed by a tour of operations to learn more about the company and industry.

Our CEO Challenge students were also personally invited by Representative Kathy Schmaltz to visit the Lansing Capitol, showcase their businesses, participate in an entrepreneurship panel, and receive a personal tour of the Capitol.

In addition, students participated in EPIC (Employer Provided Innovation Challenges). In partnership with Junior Achievement, students helped market and promote the CEO Challenge event, and later worked with Michigan’s Tri-County Construction Collaborative to explore opportunities in the skilled trades industry.

We are proud of the professionalism and enthusiasm our students demonstrated throughout these experiences and grateful to our community partners for investing in their future.

Yesterday, we celebrated more than the dedication of a house. We celebrated the impact of hard work, community, and opportunity.

What started as an empty lot on Howell Ave. in Adrian is now a beautiful home for the Zick Family, thanks in part to the incredible work of our Residential Construction students. Seeing the joy on their faces made it all come together.

We are so proud of our students for the craftsmanship, dedication, and heart they poured into this project. A special thank you to Lenawee County Habitat for Humanity for partnering with us and giving our students the opportunity to take on such a meaningful project.

Tonight, our Law Enforcement & Corrections students are taking part in Scenario Night, working through realistic emergency and real-world situations designed to prepare them for careers in public safety.

A huge thank you to our local law enforcement agencies, corrections officers, community members, and student volunteers who helped make this hands-on learning experience possible. A special shoutout also goes to instructor Doug McMullen, whose dedication and preparation make nights like this possible while helping students build the skills and confidence needed for these real-life scenarios.

There is something exciting about seeing students proudly hold up the names of the places and opportunities they are headed to next.

Our PM students gathered outside the front entrance to celebrate Decision Day 2026 and the adventures ahead of them. Whether they are heading into the workforce, continuing their education, joining the military, or pursuing skilled trades and apprenticeships, each sign represents hard work, growth, and goals becoming reality.

We are incredibly proud of these students and cannot wait to see where their journeys take them next. Congratulations, Class of 2026!

Today we had the exciting opportunity to welcome Cindy Hasselbring, Integration Manager for the Office of STEM Engagement at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center, to the LISD TECH Center alongside her mother, Jan Hasselbring, who is from Michigan.

Cindy is helping lead Career and Technical Education (CTE) initiatives through NASA, making today’s visit especially meaningful as we showcased the incredible opportunities our students experience every day right here in Lenawee County.

The visit was made even more special through the connection between Cindy and LISD Assistant Superintendent of CTE & Instruction/General Services Jenny Heath, who are former colleagues. Their professional relationship helped open the door for NASA to visit our building and see firsthand the innovation, hands-on learning, and career preparation happening right here in Lenawee County.

We are grateful for the chance to share our programs, our students, and our vision for the future of CTE with leaders who are helping shape opportunities on a national level.

Now the winning teams are gearing up for the big event and getting ready to bring their dishes to life next week. Check out a few highlights below and view the full photo album at lisd.us/photos!
