Adrian, MI – The Lenawee County Education Foundation (LCEF) celebrated the 38th Annual Scholarship Program on May 11, recognizing both the outstanding achievements of local students and the generosity of the community that supports them. During the event, LCEF awarded 457 scholarships to over 280 students, totaling $515,000 in educational funding.

Held annually, the scholarship program honors student commitment to academic success, personal growth, and future aspirations. The scholarships are made possible through the ongoing support of donors who believe in investing in students’ futures.

LCEF Executive Director John Wanke welcomed the crowd and expressed gratitude for the individuals and organizations whose generosity fuels the program. He began the afternoon’s presentations with the Community Service Scholarships, awarded to students who applied for the prestigious Frank and Shirley Dick Memorial Scholarship. While only one student is selected each year for the $5,000 renewable scholarship (totaling $20,000 over four years), the Sage Foundation stepped forward once again to recognize all applicants for their dedication to community service by awarding each nominee with a $1,000 scholarship.

Jim and Pam Van Doren presented the Community Service Scholarships on behalf of the Sage Foundation before Wanke announced this year’s Frank and Shirley Dick Memorial Scholarship recipient: Raven Aldridge, an LISD TECH Center student from Clinton High School.

Following these special awards, the remaining scholarships were presented, and families joined together to celebrate the success of the 280 student recipients.

The afternoon concluded with light refreshments and an opportunity for scholarship recipients to meet and thank the generous donors who are helping make their post-secondary goals a reality.
