HLM MSC Student Programs

Hillsdale-Lenawee-Monroe Mathematics & Science Center (HLM M/S Center) offers standards-based students programs to improve and enhance mathematics and science learning, while integrating technology use. Current student programs offered by the Center incorporate student project-based learning and team problem-solving competition.

Tri-County Science and Technology Fair

Tuesday-Thursday, February 7, 8, 9, 2017 at Adrian College Students who are in grades 5th-12th are eligible to participate in this project-based learning science competition. Using the scientific method to form a hypothesis and answer a question, students will report data and explain their project on a tri-fold display board.

2015 Michigan Science Olympiad for Middle School/High School Teams

In 2014-2015, the Hillsdale Lenawee Monroe Mathematics and Science Center (HLM MSC) will support our region’s teams by funding their participation in regional and state Science Olympiad competition. With Center funding, we will provide registration fee reimbursement to Middle School (Division B) and High School (Division C) Science Olympiad Teams in Hillsdale, Lenawee, and Monroe counties. Tri-County Elementary Science Olympiad

Tuesday, March 7, 2017, Siena Heights University Student teams in 3rd-5th grades are eligible to participate in this science competition. The Elementary Science Olympiad encourages group learning by participation in team events, where students are challenged to think creatively to solve problems and answer questions.

There is a $40 per team registration fee (checks payable to the Lenawee Intermediate School District).  Teams must be registered by Friday, February 10, 2017.  Please contact Holly Spagnoli at 517-266-1198 or holly.spagnoli@lisd.us if you need help with the registration process.


Tri-County Elementary Science Olympiad/STEM Challenge coaches’ meeting will be held on Tuesday, November 29, 2016 from 4:00 – 5:00 p.m. OR Thursday, December 1, 2016 from 4:00 – 5:00 p.m. at the Lenawee ISD William J. Ross Education Service Center, 4107 N. Adrian Hwy., Adrian, MI  49221.  Coaches will gain clarification on TCESO events and have the opportunity to ask questions and share practice tips at this informal coaches meeting.
