Sight for Students

Sight for students is a program that offers free vision exams and glasses to uninsured and underinsured children. The program operates nationally through a network of community partners who identify children in need and providers who offer the eye care services. The LISD has been a member of this initiative for several years and has vouchers available for students in need. Please contact the LISD Nurse for more information.

Children’s Special Health Care Services (CSHCS)

CSHCS is an insurance program for children with an eligible chronic health conditions.

  • There are more than 2700 medical conditions that may qualify children for coverage. Any condition where a child needs to see a specialist for care (like a provider at the U of M or Toledo Hospital) may qualify.
  • Eligibility does not depend on income. Some families pay a fee to join that is based on a sliding scale. Children with an approved diagnosis who have Medicaid or MI Child may also qualify at no cost.
