LISD TV will move up to Comcast digital channel 902 on January 15th.
All PEG (Public, Educational, and Government Access) channels will
be
changing due to the mandate to broadcast in high-quality digital
format. In addition to the higher quality video and sound and
convenience for recording on DVR for flexible playback, another
advantage will be consistent channel numbers statewide. Changing
to
digital television will free up airwaves for first responders, wireless
technologies, and allows an opportunity for providing more channels.
We
are inviting the public to share its advancement by having them take the
LISD TV 902 Challenge; one word a day will be shown on
LISD TV and the
LISD TV website
www.lisd.us/cemat/lisdtv902.aspx , between 1/15/08 - 1/21/08.
Unscramble these 7 words; print the entry/rules and regulations form
from the LISD TV 902 web page
and turn in your answer for a chance to
win and claim your prize, donated by a few REMC $AVES members. Entries
accepted until 1/31/08, prizes available while supplies last. To claim
your prize
or further questions call 265-1692 or email
lisdtv@lisd.us .
Employees of LISD and their families are ineligible
for the contest.
The change from
analog to digital broadcast will require a digital converter for
televisions that are not capable of receiving a digital
signal for
analog viewing. Newer televisions equipped for digital
may have a label
such as “Built-in Digital Tuner,” “DTV,” or “ATSC.” The FCC (Federal
Communications Commission) has a $40
coupon that can be applied toward
the purchase of selected models
of digital converters. More information
about the coupon program
